Was macht diese Musik aus? Ist es die Rauheit, die Verwegenheit, diese fürs Ohr so einfache und ehrliche Musik welche mit wenigen gekonnten Gitarrenriffs überzeugt? Ist es die Melodie? Manchmal performt sie ein Künstler alleine oder mit Schlagzeuger und Bassist. That's it!

Was mich schon damals bei Kim Churchill absolut begeistert und fasziniert hat ist nicht zuletzt auch die Person dahinter, welche mit ihren Vibes dem Ganzen diesen rohen Schliff gibt.

So durfte ich letzten Samstag unerwartet JPson an einem Konzert im New Goggeien in der Flumserberge kennenlernen. New Goggeien ist übrigens ein Geheimtipp für alle diejenigen - welche im Sarganserland tollen Ausgang suchen! So traf ich ihn, ein südafrikanischer Sänger und Booker mit schweizer Wurzeln! Ein charismatischer Kerl mit Rauheit und Dynamik in seiner Musik, eine Stimme die überzeugt und diese Lockerheit vermittelt welche einem mitreisst. Nicht zuletzt betreut er Bands wie Sons of the East und Solo Künstler wie Sean Koch.  In der Community kennt man sich natürlich – was bestens zu liviesnotes passt!

So durfe ich gestern Abend live erleben, wie er in Zürich's Kosmos für uns ein grandioses Konzert gab. Es war eine wahre Freude für die Konzertbesucher und Fans der Surf Musik. Entspannende songs wie "Open Up" bringen den Zuhörer direkt zurück an die Küste an welcher er zuletzt surfen war. "It's not Easy" ist ein romantischer Lovesong welcher zeigt das Distanz zwischen zwei sich Liebenden nicht immer einfach ist. "Denial" bringt uns klassischen und lockeren Reagge, welcher einem mittanzen lässt. "Run Away Star" besingt die Hoffnung, dass man nicht verlassen wird, auch wenn es schon zu spät zu sein scheint… und so sang sich JPson direkt in die Herzen seiner Zuhörer und schaffte eine persönliche und entspannte Stimmung mit Wohnzimmerambiente. Wir alle genossen das über eine Stunde dauernde Konzert und liessen uns mitnehmen auf eine persönliche Reise von JPson, welcher uns mit seinen Geschichten verzauberte.

What is it that makes surf music so special? And what kind of music is it? Is it this roughness, that honesty and that simpleness that dives deep into our hearts, bodies and soul?   An artist can perform solo or with a small band, it's usually held simple and gives that private atmosphere to the sometimes large audience.

What I've noticed and what exalted me when I met and heard Kim Churchill is not only the music, but the personal vibes and connection the artist builds with the audience.  This raw grind he gives to it takes you on a journey where you probably wanted to go a long time ago.

Last Saturday, I was able to unexpectedly meet JPson, a southafrican artist and booker with real swiss roots at a very private concert at New Goggeien in Flumserberg - my personal secret tipp of our region if you want to have a great night out!! A charismatic guy with this kind of roughness and dynamic in his music which comes with a voice that convinces to let go and get carried away. He takes care of the carreer of Sons of the East and solo artists like Sean Koch. Within the surf music community people know each other – which matches perfectly with liviesnotes.com .

Therefore, I am very happy that I could see him live again last night at his Zurich concert at Kosmos which was a true pleasure for the audience and his fans. Relaxing music like "Open Up" take the audience right back to the coast where you last have been surfing. "It's not Easy" is a romantic love song that shows that distance between two lovebirds can be difficult. "Denial" brings the right amount of Reagga which makes people dance.  "Run Away Star" stands for the hope of not beeing left from the beloved person… this is how JPson sang himself straight into the hearts of the audience at Kosmos and this created a very personal and relaxed sentiment in the concert room. It gave us a living room atmosphere and made us all enjoy the over one hour long gig. JPson took us on a personal journey, telling us more about his life and enchanted us with his stories.
